Addressing educational outcomes for youth in care cannot be accomplished without input from involved youth. Youth representatives of the Kansas Youth Advisory Council (KYAC) are members of the Kansas Partnership for Educating Kids in Care (KPEKC). Input from these young adults identified increased youth engagement as a means to improve educational outcomes. KYAC is taking the lead to increase youth engagement by incorporating this goal in the KYAC strategic plan.
Another resource for youth in foster care is the Kansas Independent Living program, which focuses on services and support for youth in foster care as they transition to self-sufficiency.
